RESUMO

The present paper is an investigation about the possible relationship between the imaginary production of a child at the age of 4 to 5 and his learning process development. To reach this objective, the author, at first, made a bibliographical research, giving priority to authors who are considered important when it comes to some concepts of this investigation: the real, the symbolic, the imaginary, the learner and the fairy tales as an imaginary source. After that, the author develops a field study with a group of children at a public school in Salvador-Bahia. She used children stories as an imaginary source to elucidate significant elements in those children knowledge development. The presupposed was that the imaginary production, at this age, is an imaginary field to the learning of concepts. Three categories of analysis were created: (doesnt do/ doesnt say, does and says) which were observed in three different moments (getting close to the bad wolf, discovering the bad wolf and becoming independent from the bad wolf). At the end of the investigation, the author observes that the imaginary field which was initially introduced in an unclear way, has, now, theoretical consistence. One can observe its direct relationship with the moment in which the child, while doing, can try, discover, and uncover the knowledge object properties that let him grasp it, talk about it, that is, learn. The study contribution is relevant for teachers and children education professionals.
