RESUMO
The richness of mythological narration led to the question of how the form of thought about the world might have been before the myth. The explanation found for pre-mythological times was the Sacred (Hierós in Greek) which, when myth was born, became an essential part of the same. The institutionalization of the Sacred and the organization of the priestly cast in order to support the kingly power, were cleary seen in the palation period. Religion brought about the idea of a profane world on one side and a divine world on the other and the necessity to rebind man to the divine. From the birth of the first tribes of Asiatec origin until the classic period, the Sacred was always present as an inseparable element in the education of the Greek people. The Sacred was democratized in the city-state it was part of the reflection of pre-socratic times and eventually appeared in the thought of the great socratic philosophers. The Sacred penetrated alI the history of the Hélade
