RESUMO

The aim of the present research is the appreciation of the musical aspects which are concerned to theatrical practice, specifically the notions of "rhythm" and "dynamics" (as this one contributes to the formation of rhythm) and their pervading, often in a intuitive way, the putting-on-stage process. Initially gathering definitions of such concepts in the disciplines of Musical Education and Psychology of Music, as well as relating some considerations from Semiology and Theatre Teaching, it was taken an interdisciplinary look on some key elements of the theatrical practice and reflection that are constantly subject to misunderstanding about their boundaries: the notions of musicality, dynamism and plasticity of theatrical performing. These elements are quite essential to the extent that they really support theatrical phenomenon; nevertheless they are still often relegated to the background as poetic constituents, regarded as ornamental or complementary aspects of the composition. This work assumes that rhythm, which encompasses the dynamics of theatrical work, is a tool for production of meaning, therefore raised to the status of full-signifying element which constitutes the poetic structure. In order to prove this theory, there were also searched in Literary Theory and in practices from art related fields, such as Body Art and Cinema, the paradigms which confirm the assumption that artistic language is itself essentially musical, though not always explicitly presenting relevant contents which refer to the universe of music. In the six chapters of this work we sought for recognizing and analyzing examples of procedures and methodologies of theatrical composition, concerning to the rhythmic organization of the spectacle: the dynamics of drama in verse and prose, the ways of articulation the scenes, the actor modeling of time and energy in his psychophysical scores. In order to illustrate these ideas, a condensation of a putting-on-stage process in charge of this author the play called Canteiros de Rosa, a tribute to Guimarães- is presented in the Appendix.
