RESUMO

Menopause is a physiological condition in women?s life that occurs around the age of 45 to 52; it is responsible for progressive physical and psychological changes. These changes are generated by the reduction of progesterone and estrogen hormones and also modify the control of autonomic nervous system an the heart. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the aerobic physical training (APT) on the cardiovascular and respiratory responses in menopause women submitted or not to reposition hormonal therapy, before and after the APT. We studied 12 healthy women: 6 using the reposition hormonal therapy and 6 without any medication underwent 9 month APT (for 40-60 min of 3 weekly sesseions of walking and jogging at intensity of 70 to 85% peak heart rate). The heart rate was continuously monitored at rest and during the dynamic physical exercise (DPE) evaluations in cicloergometer. Two protocols were used: 1) a continuous protocol with progressive workloads up to physical exhaustion; and 2) a discontinuous protocol with progressive workloads, intercalated by resting periods. During the protocols we monitored the cardiac metabolic and ventilarory variables: heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen consumption, pulmonary ventilation, carbon dioxide production and others. APT caused variable degree of physiological adaptations... Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
