RESUMO

This study s objective was to investigate how the child who has been failed in school built his/her self image and which reality s aspects he/she use to do so. Texts written by those 10 years old children who participated of an learning acceleration program were analyzed. The analysis was based on: Henri Wallon s psicogenetic theory related to the self image formation. This author thinks that the conscience is a result of the person as a whole and it comprehends the affective, cognitive and manipulative dimensions that are articulated whit the genetic inheritance and the social environment. The analysis was also based on Bakthin s linguistic views who considers ever statement as dialogue response which place the participants in a direct or indirect social order. The results suggested that the self image is not just one. They might be many of them as a result of child s interpretations given to a several significativa experiences
