RESUMO
This study investigated teachers education for Youngsters and Adult Education (YAE) in the lato senso post graduation course at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). My objective was to understand the conception and analyze the political and pedagogical foundations of that who participate in the specialization courses on Foundations of YAE, that have been offered by UFPE since the early 1990s. Among other theoretical references used to support this study, there was emphasis on Paulo Freireâs political and pedagogical thoughts about theachers education from three perspectives: the dialogicity, the human beingâs inconclusion, and the ethical nature of his pedagogy and thought. The theoretical and methodological approach applied was the qualitative one and the procedures to approach the research field were literature review, participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and semi-open questionnaires. Content Analysis was the technique used to analyze the final results. The analysis of the information found revealed that UFPE has been educating teachers for YAE in specialization courses founded on a conception of education as a cultural activity that privileges the humanity construction of the human being and as education as a non-finished product, thus, continuous. The teacherâs choice for these courses is mainly based on the desire of improving the theoretical and practical experience. On the other hand, the interviewees did not show a more consistent understanding of the course pedagogical proposal, since they cannot explicit significantly the contribution of this kind of education for their professional and personal life
