RESUMO

This thesis intends to analyze the main aspects of the novel La Pesquisa published by the Argentinian writer, Juan José Saer, in 1994. We intend to observe in which way the most important components of the novel is related to the principal characteristics of the detective stories as they have been molded by the tradition. In a second moment, we analyze the relation between the fiction and what is called truth as it is presented not only in the novel itself but also in two articles by the same author. Both discuss the topics mentioned before and we also relate them to a short story, entitled En linea, written by Saer years after La Pesquisa
