RESUMO

The focus of this research is to investigate within OlindaÂs Municipal Education System the presence of âburnout â in education and the factors which produce it ; identify the interference of these factors in the conception of the educator âburnoutâ, as well as to analyze the subjective point of view of the teachers in light of this âburnoutâ. Our main focus was on the primary school teacher. Fifteen teachers from 6 schools were interviewed. The theoretical reference of this study of symptoms that derived from the state of âburnoutâ in education, forming the educator âburnoutâ as well as the subjective state taken upon themselves by the educators was analyzed through a psycho-analytical concept. The appraisal of the method of substance was used in the analysis of the material obtained through the research. The examination of the response attained helped identify within the municipal system, the presence of âburnoutâ in the educational system and itÂs interference on the educator. Among the factors which produce âburnoutâ in education as reference in the text we found; the lack of material resources, adverse working conditions, violence, accumulation of responsibilities on the teacher, disparity of teacherÂs role, modification in the context of social support on behalf of the teacher and alteration on the teacherÂs image. In relation to the symptoms which the educational âburnoutâ consists in and that were identified in this study we can point out; the feeling of dissatisfaction, not fitting in, anxiety, stress and physical symptoms. In light of this state of affairs we analyze distinct postures are secured by the educators: 1) option to move away from the profession if a more secure one is found; 2) maintaining oneself in the profession without investing oneself fully in it and having quarrels with students and the educational system itself; 3) sustaining in the profession resisting the difficulties with productive initiatives ( self investment, projects).The review of the text allowed observation of a state of âburnoutâ in the educational system within a variety of countries, distinguishes itself in Olinda, and portrays economical cultural and political roots. Among the cultural roots we highlight the authority crisis and break of civil pact. In order to understand the economical and political factors, in was necessary to historically restore the structure of the educational profession and of the organization of the primary school system of the country, through the use of specific bibliographical texts and testimonials of syndicate leaders upholding wide amount of understanding both national and municipally. Through the procedure of analysis employed it was possible to understand that the different points of view held by the educators made it possible to assume that other factors influenced their points of view, their psychological structure included. In order to face the educator âburnoutâ, this study suggests that the educators be submitted to psycho-analytical orientation following the example formulated by the Grupo de Apoio Psicossocial ao Professor e à Escola located in Olinda. Other than that, other factors will contribute to facing the educational burnout, such as: the insight as to public policy of effectively applying a national minimum wage, alterations of necessary curriculum for educator courses, access through a public exam and of the minimum requirements for educator graduation, which are already becoming a reality in our country
