Adesão do idoso hipertenso ao tratamento : uma tecnologia educativa em saúde embasada no modelo de crenças

RESUMO

The Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) is a growing Public Health issue in Brazil, since one in five Brazilians have this disturbance, which is already ranked as the third cause of the death in the world. It is estimated that 600 million people in the world suffer from SAH. The Systemic Arterial Hypertension is classified as a multifactor disease, whose origin is directly influenced by the environment. Its appearance relates to an inadequate lifestyle in addition to demographic factors such as gender, age, race and genetics; and to risk factors such as sedentary life, stress, tobacco addition, alcoholism, the inadequate use of prescribed medicine and mal nourishment. SAH has specifics characteristics such as being chronic and asymptomatic. Among the various barriers of treatment adherence it can be included behavior change, lack of understanding of the problem, waiting time for consultation and others. Based on the reality experienced at the primary care and on the knowledge of cardiovascular diseases, the present study aims to analyze the perceived chances after the application of the educational technology based on the Health Belief Model (HBM). The survey results encouraged the writing of two articles: the first, Seniors suffering from Hypertension the analyzes of the knowledge regarding the control of SAH, has a quantitative approach, and describes the seniors knowledge regarding the control of SAH. The second, entitled adherence of the seniors patients to the treatment a educational technology based on the HBM, has a qualitative approach, which aims to analyze the behavior changes in seniors suffering from SAH and their adherence to the treatment with the application of an education technology based on the Health Belief Model. These studies results will be used as a database to another studies aiming to broaden and strengthen the promotion of senior health, as well as the prevention to the severities of SAH.
