RESUMO

There are controversies about the use of light sources to accelerate the bleaching agents in teeth submitted to endodontic treatment. The objective of this study was to analyse quantitatively the bleaching ability of different products for professional use, photoactivated or not, on bovine teeth stained artificially. Fifty bovine incisor were divided on five groups of ten teeth with healthy crowns sectioned at the 1 mm of the amelo-cementum junction and with coronal opening for endodontic treatment. All groups were submitted to artificial staining process with bovine blood, except the Group E. In Group A was applied Whiteness HP (FGM Dental Products, Joinville, SC, Brazil) within the pulp chamber and the vestibular face of the tooth. The curing was performed with an equipment of the type of high power LED (Bright LEC, MM Optics, São Carlos, SP, Brazil), for 1 minute in the lingual face and plus 1 minute in vestibular face. The bleaching agent was left in position for another 13 minutes, following the manufacturer s recommendations, and then removed. Were performed two repetitions of this procedure, amounting to three applications of the bleaching agent. In Group B the same procedure was performed in Group A, except the application of the light source. In Group C the bleaching agent was used Mix One (Villevie, Joinville, SC, Brazil), following the same methodology used in Group B. Group D was stained and was not subjected to any bleaching agent, acting as a negative control. In Group E, positive control, no staining was not clearing. Spectrophotometric readings were performed, starting after staining and after bleaching procedures. The results were submitted to one-way ANOVA with Tukey post-test, with significance level of 5%. The values of ΔE were calculated using the standard CIE Lab and showed up like the positive control (P>0.05), showing the effectiveness of products and procedures, which caused the return to the original color of the dental element. After obtaining the results and statistical analysis of the same can be concluded that there were no significant DE (unit of colour difference) among the experimental groups A, B and C differences in the values of (P>0.05).
