1. Obtenção artificial de rainhas e estabelecimento de novas colônias de Tetragona clavipes (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) / Artificial obtainment of queens and establishment of new colonies of Tetragona clavipes (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini)
Nesses aspectos, alguns

2. AvaliaÃÃo de quatro mÃtodos de produÃÃo de geleia real e rainhas de Apis mellifera no estado do Cearà / Evaluation of four methods of production of royal jelly and queens of Apis mellifera in the state of CearÃ
The experiment was conducted at the Faculty Technology FATEC - Wilderness Center in the city of Quixeramobim - CE, and was divided into two stages. The goal of the first phase conducted from February to April 2010 was to evaluate the influence of rearing for royal jelly production and larval weight of Apis mellifera transferred. The second step was evaluated

3. Colonization of Brasilonema octagenarum UFV-E1 (Cyanobacteria) in young plants of eucalyptus and the identification of bioactive substances / Colonização de Brasilonema octagenarum UFV-E1 (Cyanobacteria) sobre plantas jovens de eucalipto e a identificação de substâncias bioativas
Cyanobacteria produces a wide variety of biological compounds of economic-industrial interest, often referred to as "bioactive molecules". This is a broad term that include substances, which at low concentrations, are able to affect vital metabolic processes. Recently, a new species of cyanobacteria, Brasilonema octagenarum UFV-E1, was identified. The cyanob

4. Identificação dos microorganismos presentes na saliva, na coroa dental e no canal radicular de dentes indicados ao retratamento endodontico e analise da suscetibilidade antimicrobiana, dos fatores de virulencia e da diversidade genetica dos Enterococcus faecalis isolados / Identification of microorganism present in saliva, crown and root canal of endodontically treated teeth and analysis of antimicrobial susceptibility, virulence factors and diversity of clonal types of Enterococcus faecalis isolated
The aims of this study were: (a) to identify Enterococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Candida spp. and enterobacteria in saliva of patients with failure of the endodonticallytreated teeth, (b) to investigate the microbiota in the restorative material and within root canals of the same subjects, (c) to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility of E. faecalis

5. Efeito de um complexo homeopático no desempenho e no comportamento de camundongos sob estresse agudo / Effect of a homeopatic complex on the performance and behavior of mice under acute stress
To evaluate the effect of homeopathic commercial complex (Convert H) on the performance and behavior of mice (Mus musculus) submitted to acute stress, two colonies were used: a Colony Bioterio (animals that did not receive the product) and Colony Convert H (animals from mice receiving the product for 16 generations). The animals were randomly assigned into f

7. Influence of the workers bee behavioral status on the preoviposition period and survival of queens of Melipona quadrifasciata Lep. (HYMENOPTERA:MELIPONINI) in laboratory conditions. / Influência do status comportamental das operárias sobre o período de pré-oviposição e sobrevivência de rainhas de Melipona quadrifasciata Lep. (Hymenoptera: Meliponini) em condições de laboratório
In this work it was aimed at a) to investigate the influence of the workers bee behavioral status of different origins in the recognition process and defensive behavior; b) the influence of the age of the queens and of the workers bee behavioral status in the acceptance process of virgin queens; c) influence of the workers bee behavioral status on the surviv

8. Identification and cloning of a hemin storage locus involved in the pigmentation phenotype of Yersinia pestis.
The temperature-dependent absorption of sufficient exogenous hemin or Congo red to form pigmented colonies of Yersinia pestis has been termed the pigmentation phenotype (Pgm+). Spontaneous mutation to a Pgm- phenotype results in the loss of a number of divergent physiological characteristics, including the ability to store hemin and to bind Congo red at 26 d

9. Differential action and differential expression of DNA polymerase I during Escherichia coli colony development.
A mini-Tn10 insertion in the polA cistron (polA2099) was isolated in a search for mutations that affect patterned Mudlac replication in colonies. The polA2099 mutation had a dramatic effect on cell morphogenesis during the first few hours of microcolony development. Abnormal microcolonies containing filamentous cells were produced as a result of SOS inductio

10. A New Generalizable Test for Detection of Mutations Affecting Tn10 Transposition
We describe here a new rapid screen that allows easy detection of transposon or host mutations that affect Tn10 transposition in Escherichia coli. This test involves a new Tn10 derivative called the "mini-lacZ-kanR fusion hopper" or mini-Tn10-LK for short. This element does not direct expression of β-galactosidase when present at its original starting loca

11. Trimethoprim-induced DNA polymerase I deficiency in Escherichia coli K-12.
Curing of the mini-ColE1 plasmid pML21 was observed among cells of Escherichia coli K-12 strain C600(pML21) grown under subinhibitory conditions in the presence of trimethoprim, a specific inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase. Some of the cured colonies showed (i) a reduction in frequency of transformation with pML21 compared with those of isogenic strains n

12. In vivo cloning of Pseudomonas aeruginosa genes with mini-D3112 transposable bacteriophage.
The transposition properties of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa mutator bacteriophage D3112 were exploited to develop an in vivo cloning system. Mini-D replicon derivatives of D3112 were constructed by incorporating broad host range plasmid replicons between short terminal D3112 sequences. These elements were made with small replication regions from the RK2, Sa,
