25. Synthesis and Characterization of a New Unsymmetrical Potentially Pentadentate Schiff Base Ligand and Related Complexes with Manganese(II), Nickel(II), Copper(II), Zinc(II) and Cadmium(II)
New unsymmetric thioether Schiff base amine, 2-(2-aminoethylthio)-N-(thiophene-2-ylmethylene)aniline was prepared by reaction of 2-aminothiophenol with N-(2-bromoethyl)phthalimide and then by thiophene-2-carbaldehyde. Then, the phthalimide group converted to the amine by hydrazine hydrate. The new potentially pentadentate N3S2 donor unsymmetrical Schiff base

26. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as a Biondicator of Copper and Cadmium Toxicity. A Bioavailability Approach
The acute toxicity of copper and cadmium in Oreochromis niloticus was evaluated through a 96 h static assay. Precipitation of Cu and co-precipitation of Cd in the presence of Cu were noted, being indicative of differences in nominal and actual concentrations of metals. Under these conditions, LC50-96h was determined as 3.53 mg L-1Cu, 20.1 mg L-1 Cd and 1.36

27. Supramolecular Approach to Decorate Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes with Negatively Charged Iron(II) Complexes
Poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) and P4VP/pentacyanoferrate(II) metallopolymer were used to suspend up to 1 mg mL-1 of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) in ethanol/water mixtures, providing noncolavent decoration of MWCNT with electroactive iron complex. The major interaction between polymer side chains and nanotubes is via π-π stacking, rather than charge

28. Metal Complex Derivatives of Azole: a Study on Their Synthesis, Characterization, and Antibacterial and Antifungal Activities
Four new zinc complex derivatives of azoles and ligands were synthesized and isolated as white air-stable solids and characterized by elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectra. The elemental analysis, theoretical calculations and NMR show that the complexes likely have a 1:1

29. Effect of Metal Acetylacetonates on the Photooxidative Destruction of High Density Polyethylene
The process of photooxidative destruction of high density polyethylene films containing different organic complexes of polyvalent metals as pro-oxidant additives after UV- irradiation was studied. During exposure to UV- irradiation, the more significant changes in the mechanical and thermal properties were detected for the foils containing pro-oxidant additi

30. NATURALEZA DE LAS INTERACCIONES Mδ+...δ+C-Oδ- EN CARBONILOS METÁLICOS. UN ESTUDIO BASADO EN LA TOPOLOGÍA DE LA DENSIDAD DE CARGA ELECTRÓNICA Y SU FUNCIÓN LAPLACIANA
The nature of the metal-ligand interactions, in the [Ti(CO)6]2-, [V(CO)6]-, [Cr(CO)6], [Mn(CO)6]+, [Fe(CO)6]2+ and [Co(CO)6]3+ complexes has been studied by means of topological analyses of the electron charge density, using the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM) and Electron Function Localization (ELF). The calculations were made using B3LYP metho

31. Rhenium(I) Polypyridine Complexes as Luminescence-Based Sensors for the BSA Protein
The binding interaction of rhenium(I) complexes fac-[Re(CO)3(NN)(py)]+, py = pyridine and NN = 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (ph2phen) or 4,7-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline (Cl2phen), and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated at physiological pH using emission intensity variation and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. 32. Antiplasmodial activity of iron(II) and ruthenium(II) organometallic complexes against Plasmodium falciparum blood parasites
This work reports the in vitro activity against Plasmodium falciparumblood forms (W2 clone, chloroquine-resistant) of tamoxifen-based compounds and their ferrocenyl (ferrocifens) and ruthenocenyl (ruthenocifens) derivatives, as well as their cytotoxicity against HepG2 human hepatoma cells. Surprisingly with these series, results indicate that the biological

33. Ni(II), Cu(II), AND Zn(II) COMPLEXES DERIVED FROM A NEW SCHIFF BASE 2-((Z)-(3-METHYLPYRIDIN-2- YLEIMINO)METHYL)PHENOL AND SYNTHESIS OF NANO SIZED METAL OXIDE PARTICLES FROM THESE COMPOUNDS
Synthesis, spectral identification, and magnetic properties of three complexes of Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) are described. All three compounds have the general formula [M(L)2(H2O)2], where L = deprotonated phenol in the Schiff base 2-((z)-(3-methylpyridin-2-yleimino)methyl)phenol. The three complexes were synthesized in a one-step synthesis and characterize

34. Biological Activity Studies on Metal Complexes of Macrocyclic Schiff Base Ligand: Synthesis and Spectroscopic Characterization
In this study, we prepared the macrocyclic Schiff base ligand (L) derived from 1,4-dicarbonylphenyl- dihydrazide and pentane-2,4-dione (2:2) and its CoII, CuII and NiII complexes. The compounds were characterized by the analytical and spectroscopic methods like elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, mass spect

35. Adsorption of Transition Metal Chlorides by Silica with Grafted 1-n-Propyl-3-Methylimidazolium Chloride
Silica with grafted 1-n-propyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was investigated as adsorbent for the removal of cobalt(II), copper(II), zinc(II), cadmium(II) and mercury(II) chlorides from alcoholic and aqueous solutions. The adsorption proceeds via the formation of metal-chloride anionic complexes detained near the grafted organic cations as counterions. This

36. Study of the antimicrobial activity of metal complexes and their ligands through bioassays applied to plant extracts
The appearance of resistant bacteria was found to reduce the efficiency of antimicrobial therapies with the current antibiotics, thereby increasing the need for more efficient drugs for the treatment of infections. Several studies have demonstrated an increase in antimicrobial activity following the interaction of several compounds with metal ions. The prese
