1. Appraisal of acute oral toxicity of glucuronoxylan hydrogel from Mimosa pudica seeds
Glucuronoxylan hydrogel (GXH) isolated from M. pudica seeds was assessed for acute toxicology in albino mice that were alienated into four groups. Three groups, i.e., II, III and IV received GXH at a dose of 1, 2 and 5 g/kg, respectively while group I was retained untreated and provided routine diet. After administering GXH, mice were examined for vomiting,

2. METABOLÔMICA: DEFINIÇÕES, ESTADO-DA-ARTE E APLICAÇÕES REPRESENTATIVAS
Metabolomics is an emerging and promising omics approach used to understand biological mechanisms. By untargeted and targeted metabolomics analyses, metabolites are determined in biological samples (fluids, cells, tissues, etc.) by comparison of control groups with altered groups, undergoing different therapies, submitted to differing stress levels, dietary

3. Efeitos do inseticida endossulfam sobre a morfologia e a morfometria testicular em morcegos frugívoros Artibeus lituratus (OLFERS, 1818) / Effects of the endosulfan on the testicular morphology and morphometry in fruit bats Artibeus lituratus (OLFERS, 1818)
Large amounts of agricultural chemicals are discharged into the environment in Brazil. These pesticides are often used to destroy or impair the activity of organisms that attack crops. There are some reports in the literature concerning the decline of many wildlife populations as a result of contamination of their habitats by pesticides. One of the putative

4. Toxic effects of cadmium on the microalgae Lingulodinium polyedrum using high performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) / Análise dos efeitos tóxicos de cádmio sobre a microalga Lingulodinium polyedrum utilizando cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência acoplada à espectrometria de massas (LC-MS/MS)
Given the increase of environmentally harmful human activities, in particular the ones injurious to the aquatic environment, it is important to elucidate the defense mechanisms utilized by organisms exposed to damaging agents. Those species can later be suggested to be used as pollution bioindicators or bioremediatiors. Algae are of particular importance bec

5. RESEARCH POTENTIAL OF THE TOXIC ethanol extract of the seeds of Annona coriacea Mart. (Araticum) IN MICE EXPOSED SUBCHRONIC / INVESTIGAÇÃO DO POTENCIAL TÓXICO DO EXTRATO BRUTO ETANÓLICO DAS SEMENTES DE ANNONA CORIACEA MART. (ARATICUM) EM CAMUNDONGOS SUBCRONICAMENTE EXPOSTOS
The araticum (Annona coriacea Mart.) is a typical fruit of the brazilian cerrado used popularly to overcome inflammatory processes. The family Annonaceae presents as the main constituents acetogenins, a class of substances with great cytotoxic and genotoxic potential, and cited as responsible for a disease similar to parkinson in a Caribbean population that

6. Reúso de água e polimento de efluentes de lagoas de estabilização por meio de cultivo consorciado de plantas da família Lemnaceae e tilápias
Recently, the interests towards duckweed-based-ponds utilization are due to the fact that these systems present high nutrient and algae removal efficiencies, producing high protein biomass. The present work was developed at The Wastewater Treatment Plant from Florianópolis (Casan) and divided into three trials. The first and second trials were conducted at

7. AVALIAÇÃO TOXICOLÓGICA CRÔNICA DO POLÍMERO QUITOSANA FERRO(III) SOLÚVEL / CHRONIC TOXICOLOGY AVALIATION OF SOLUBLE IRON (III) CHITOSAN
Hyperphosphatemia is a common problem in patients with chronic renal failure, particularly in those who have reached end-stage renal diseased. The main methods of achieving control of the increased of phosphate are reduction of dietary intake, reduction of gastrointestinal absorption by use of binding agents and removal by dialysis. In this study, we evaluat

8. EFEITOS DO HERBICIDA GLIFOSATE SOBRE O CRESCIMENTO, ENZIMAS DIGESTIVAS E PARÂMETROS TOXICOLÓGICOS EM PIAVAS (Leporinus sp.) / EFFECTS OF GLYPHOSATE ON GROWTH, DIGESTIVE ENZYMES AND TOXICOLOGY PARAMETERS IN PIAVAS (Leporinus sp.)
The effects of glyphosate (1.0 and 5.0 mg/L) on growth, digestive enzymes and toxicology parameters were evaluated in piavas (Leporinus sp.) after 90 days of exposure. A control group was kept in water without herbicide. Fish were fed to satiety twice a day with commercial fish pellets (38% crude protein, Purina). Water quality was kept by suction of food an

9. AvaliaÃÃo da toxicidade tecidual de Melxi e bromelina por via oral em ratos
ÂCrude bromelain, an aqueous extract from pineapples, has been sold in health food stores as a nutritional supplement for âdigestive aidâ. It contains a mixture of different proteins, carbohydrates and other components. Cystein proteinases in crude bromelain are called bromelains, they are stem bromelain (EC 3.4.22.32), comosain, ananain (EC 3.4.22.31)

10. Development and validation of a multiresidue analytical methodology for the quantification of pesticide residues in mangos (Mangifera indica).

11. Nature's chemicals and synthetic chemicals: comparative toxicology.
The toxicology of synthetic chemicals is compared to that of natural chemicals, which represent the vast bulk of the chemicals to which humans are exposed. It is argued that animals have a broad array of inducible general defenses to combat the changing array of toxic chemicals in plant food (nature's pesticides) and that these defenses are effective against

12. Differentiation of Penicillium griseofulvum Dierckx isolates by enzyme assays and by patulin and griseofulvin analyses.
The production of patulin and griseofulvin by 49 different isolates of Penicillium griseofulvum Dierckx was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography. Eleven isolates were obtained from pistachio nuts, 37 were obtained from wheat seeds, and 1 was obtained from the American Type Culture Collection. Activities of 19 enzymes were also assayed by the AP
