1. MODELING OF PHOSPHORUS LOSSES BY WATER EROSION
ABSTRACT Phosphorus losses in runoff water and eroded sediment may increase the risk of eutrophication. Erosion prediction models can be used to assess and quantify nutrient losses and transport in different soil management scenarios. This study aimed to assess the performance of models to estimate the losses of available phosphorus in eroded sediments and a

2. Phosphorus Forms in Sediments as Indicators of Anthropic Pressures in an Agricultural Catchment in Southern Brazil
ABSTRACT Phosphorus (P) fractionation is a suitable procedure to ascertain P lability in sediments and is able to distinguish sources of P under different soil management practices in a catchment. Brazil is the second largest producer and the largest exporter of tobacco in the world. Inadequate management of cultivated areas exposes the soil to erosion proce

3. Genesis and Classification of Sodic Soils in the Northern Pantanal
ABSTRACT The simultaneous occurrence of high levels of exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) and alkalinity in soils imposes restrictions on plant development and affects physical properties such as porosity, bulk density, permeability, and hydraulic conductivity. Although sodic soils are frequent in the flood plain of the São Lourenço River, northern Panta

4. CLAY AND PHOSPHORUS LOSSES BY EROSION IN OXISOL WITH SUGARCANE RESIDUES
ABSTRACT Considering the importance of nutrients in the soil for the plants development and the soil quality conservation and the quantification relevance of them for proper soil management, the aims of this research were: (i) to quantify the clay loss, adsorbed and soluble P from interrill erosion influenced by the presence of sugarcane residues on the grou

5. Estudo do jateamento em solos argilosos e sua aplicação à engenharia de fundações offshore / Study of water jets in clay and its application to offshore foundation engineering design
Most of all petroleum produced in Brazil is encountered in marine deposits where the water depth may exceed 1000 meters. Recent discoveries of new offshore oil fields have motivated studies in this area designed to develop new techniques applied to oil exploration. For the extraction of oil deposits floating platforms are commonly used, supported by anchorag

6. Fabricação de microeletrodos para aplicações em microscopia eletroquímica de varredura / Fabrication of microelectrodes for applications in scanning electrochemical microscopy
In this study, platinum microelectrodes were fabricated with a Micropipette Puller and used in Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) to obtain information on the acid erosion of tooth enamel. The sealing and polishing of the active area of the fabricated devices are considered critical steps in the construction process, hence a vacuum pump was used to e

7. Morfodinâmica associada entre duna, praia e zona submarina como subsídio a adequada ocupação do espaço costeiro na Praia do Peró - RJ. / Morphodynamics associated between dune, beach and underwater area as an aid to proper occupation of coastal space in Praia do Pero - RJ.
The coastline offers a veritable mosaic of diversity in coastal landforms, which enable the development of a number of different economic activities. Coastal environments are highly dynamic and involve a complex series of continental and oceanic processes. The beach of Pero, located between Cape Buzios and Cabo Frio, Rio coast, appears as an area distinct fr

8. Controle na distribuição das lateritas e saprolitos de alto teor no depósito de níquel laterítico do Jacaré, Distrito de Carajás, Brasil
The Jacaré world class nickel lateritic deposit (495Mt @ 1,19% Ni) is positioned about 52 Km NNE straight line from São Félix do Xingu/PA State - Carajás Mineral Province. The deposit occurs in essentially dunitic and gabbroic rocks magmatically layered with subordinated peridotites and pyroxenites levels. The saprolitic zones host the main Ni ores and t

9. Padrões diagenéticos em arenitos de sistemas de Sabk ha costeiros-eólicos: um estudo comparativo dos reservatórios Juruá da área de Urucu, Bacia de Solimões, AM
Coastal-eolian sabkha sandstones from different ages and basins show similar diagenetic patterns, which understanding is important for their evaluation as geochemical systems and as hydrocarbon reservoirs. The Carboniferous sandstones of the Juruá Formation (Solimões Basin) are one of the most important gas reservoirs of Brazil. The sandstones and interbed

10. Fossils in quaternary micrites of Bodoquena Range, Bonito-MS and their application in paleoenvironmental studies / Fósseis em micritos quaternários da Serra da Bodoquena, Bonito-MS e sua aplicação em estudos paleoambientais
Bonito town and surrounding areas in Mato Grosso do Sul state are tourist attractions related with many quaternary carbonate deposits which form waterfalls, dams and render almost zero turbidity waters. That area is part of the National Park of Bodoquena Range and Pantanal Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO). Calcareous tufa are porous rocks formed by calcium carbona

11. Sediment distribution model in marine shelf area : a cambrian example from the Sergipano Belt (Lagarto Formation, Estancia Domain, Sergipe) / Modelo de distribuição de sedimento em area de plataforma marinha : um exemplo do cambriano da faixa sergipana (Formação Lagarto, Dominio Estancia, Sergipe)
Coastal areas of wave-influenced tidal plains are not well known in recent and ancient depositional systems. The Lagarto Formation represents one of these mixed depositional systems influenced both by tide and wave activities. This work describes the sediments in this system, interprets the depositional processes and defines a distributional model of sedimen

12. Using porcine acellular collagen matrix (Pelvicol®) in bladder augmentation: experimental study
PURPOSE: Evaluate the rabbit augmented bladder with PelvicolÒ. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty New Zealand rabbits were divided into 4 groups. Bladder augmentation was performed using a 10 x 10 mm sized porcine acellular collagen matrix. The material was placed on the dome of the bladder wall as a patch with 5-0 polyglycolic sutures.
