13. Hydric erosion and initial development of the Eucalyptus grandis in a Red-Yellow Argisol submitted to different methods of soil preparation in the Vale do Paraíba-SP region / Erosão hídrica e desenvolvimento inicial do Eucalyptus grandis em um Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo submetido a diferentes métodos de preparo de solo no Vale do Paraíba - SP
In Brazil, and especially in the state of São Paulo in the Vale do Paraíba region, eucalypt plantation is expanding to high declivity areas occupied with degraded pastures due to the limited agricultural value of these topographies and its greatest forest aptitude. Such areas are naturally more susceptible to the hydric erosion, which reduces the fores

14. High resolution positioning â suitability and aplication to coastal morphology / Posicionamento de alta resoluÃÃo â adequaÃÃo e aplicaÃÃo à morfologia costeira
The coastal zone concentrates a large economic potential and due to its importance to the sustainable development it was subject of discussion during the United Nations Conference on the Environment, Rio 92. The Agenda 21, the basic document generated during this conference, includes a specific chapter (Chap. 17) that deals with the protection of the oceans

15. CaracterizaÃÃo geo-ambiental e estudo da variabilidade espaÃo-temporal de erosÃo no Parque Metripolitano Armando de Holanda Cavalcanti - Cabo de Santo Agostinho - PE/Brasil
The present work had as objective elaborates a base of geo-environmental data for the diagnosis of the physical middle and study of the space-temporary variability of erosion with information of the biotic, no biotic and anthropological factors of the geo-ecosystem of the âArmando de Holanda Cavalcantiâ Metropolitan Park in Santo Agostinho s District. The

16. Aspectos geoambientais entre as praias do Paiva e GaibÃ, MunicÃpio do Cabo de Santo Agostinho (Litoral sul de Pernambuco)
The present work is a result of a systematic study of the erosive processes constraints along the coast between Paiva Beach and Cabo de Santo Agostinho promontory, Pernambuco, including the adjoining continental shelf. A diagnostic focused on the geologic characteristics of the coastal zone, including the emerse and submerse areas, on the vulnerability chara

17. Bone turnover in non-steroid treated rheumatoid arthritis.
OBJECTIVE--To examine whether changes in cancellous bone turnover and resorption cavity depth contribute to bone loss in patients with non-steroid treated rheumatoid arthritis. METHODS--Iliac crest biopsies were obtained from 37 patients with non-steroid treated rheumatoid arthritis, 13 male and 24 female, aged 37-71 years. Bone turnover and resorption cavit

18. ATTACHMENT OF THIOBACILLUS THIOOXIDANS TO SULFUR CRYSTALS
Schaeffer, W. I. (Rutgers, The State University, New Brunswick, N.J.), P. E. Holbert, and W. W. Umbreit. Attachment of Thiobacillus thiooxidans to sulfur crystals. J. Bacteriol. 85:137–140. 1963.—Electron micrographs of replicas of sulfur crystals before and after attack by Thiobacillus thiooxidans show that the microorganisms erode the crystal in the ar

19. Ground-based and remotely sensed nutrient availability across a tropical landscape
Tropical soils often are assumed to be highly weathered and thus nutrient-depleted, but this prediction applies primarily to geomorphically stable surfaces. Topography complicates the assumption of nutrient depletion, because erosion can enhance the supply of nutrients to tropical ecosystems. Consequently, understanding nutrient availability across landscape

20. Diarrhea induced by Treponema hyodysenteriae: a young chick cecal model for swine dysentery.
The experimental infection of 25 young chicks with Treponema hyodysenteriae was carried out. Treponemes were isolated from 21 of 25 chicks on day 21 after inoculation. The ceca of chicks infected with treponemes were atrophied. The lumen was filled with a white watery fluid instead of digested feed. In some infected chicks, a cecal core was observed with the
