13. Matrix Damage Detection in Laminated Composite Structures by Discrete and Continuous Wavelet Transforms Using Vibration Modes
ABSTRACT: In this paper it was sought to enhance the potential damage detection, location and quantification of the Discrete and Continuous Wavelet Transforms in thin damaged laminated composite plates by a signal derived from vibration modes. To evaluate the ability of both transforms in the damage prognostic it was also proposed the use of Damage Indexes.

14. Analysis of Geometrically Nonlinear Vibrations of Functionally Graded Shallow Shells of a Complex Shape
Abstract Geometrically nonlinear vibrations of functionally graded shallow shells of complex planform are studied. The paper deals with a power-law distribution of the volume fraction of ceramics and metal through the thickness. The analysis is performed with the use of the R-functions theory and variational Ritz method. Moreover, the Bubnov-Galerkin and the

15. Pattern Identification on the Nonlinear Radial Motion of an Oscillating Spherical Bubble Using Neural Networks
Abstract The main goal of this article is to study the oscillatory motion of a spherical gas bubble immersed in a Newtonian liquid subjected to a harmonic pressure excitation. We use the classical Rayleigh-Plesset equation to study the radial motion of the bubble undergoing a forcing acoustic pressure field. The second order nonlinear ordinary differential e

16. Flutter Instability of Timoshenko Cantilever Beam Carrying Concentrated Mass on Various Locations
Abstract This paper presents effects of shear deformation on flutter instability of cantilever beam subject to a concentrated follower force. The discrete form of equation of motion is formulated based on the Lagrange. In the presented formulation, the beam is modeled using Timoshenko beam theory, and constant shear distribution through the thickness of the

17. Study Neo-Hookean and Yeoh Hyper-Elastic Models in Dielectric Elastomer-Based Micro-Beam Resonators
Abstract Micro-bridge resonator with dielectric elastomer that is sandwiched between two electrodes is studied here with geometric and material nonlinearity. Geometric nonlinearity is introduced with Von-Karman strain-displacement relationship. For material nonlinearity that is modeled rarely in articles, two hyper-elastic models are used here. Governing equ

18. Time-Domain Three Dimensional BE-FE Method for Transient Response of Floating Structures Under Unsteady Loads
Abstract This paper presents a direct time-domain three dimensional (3D) numerical procedure to simulate the transient response of very large floating structures (VLFS) subjected to unsteady external loads as well as moving mass. The proposed procedure employs the Boundary Element and Finite Element methods (FEM-BEM). The floating structure and the surroundi

19. Vibration Analysis of a Magnetoelectroelastic Rectangular Plate Based on a Higher-Order Shear Deformation Theory
Abstract Free vibration of a magnetoelectroelastic rectangular plate is investigated based on the Reddy's third-order shear deformation theory. The plate rests on an elastic foundation and it is considered to have different boundary conditions. Gauss's laws for electrostatics and magnetostatics are used to model the electric and magnetic behavior. The partia

21. Effect of Uniformly Distributed Tangential Follower Force on the Stability of Rotating Cantilever Tube Conveying Fluid
Abstract In this paper, the Euler-Bernoulli beam model is used to predict the structural instability of rotating cantilever tubes conveying fluid and subjected to uniform distributed tangential compressive load. The governing equation of motion and boundary conditions of the system are derived using the Hamilton's principle. Then, Galerkin method is applied

22. Parametric Model Method and Deployment Simulation of Inflatable Antenna Structures
ABSTRACT: In this paper, we develop a parametric model method and simulate the deployment mechanism of inflatable antenna structures. Different folded methods are developed for the primary members of inflatable antenna structures, which include inflatable tubes, an inflatable torus, a reflector etc. The unstressed configuration and the folded configuration o

23. Study of squeeze film damping in a micro-beam resonator based on micro-polar theory
In this paper, squeeze film damping in a micro-beam resonator based on micro-polar theory has been investigated. The proposed model for this study consists of a clamped-clamped micro-beam bounded between two fixed layers. The gap between the micro-beam and layers is filled with air. As fluid behaves differently in micro scale than macro, the micro-scale flui

24. Application of iteration perturbation method and Hamiltonian approach for nonlinear vibration of Euler-Bernoulli beams
This paper is devoted to the new classes of analytical techniques called the Iteration Perturbation Method (IPM)and Hamiltonian Approach(HA) for solving the equation of motion governing the nonlinear vibration of Euler-Bernoulli beams subjected to the axial loads. It has been found that theIPMand HAare very prolific, rapid, functional and do not demand small
