1. ERROR BEHAVIOR OF ATOMIC CLOCKS ABOARD GPS SATELLITES
Abstract: The signal transmission and position quality obtained by GNSS positioning directly depends on the time control. The atomic clocks aboard the satellites are responsible for this control. In this research, the satellites clock errors of GPS are studied, using data from the pseudorange, the satellite semi-major axis and the correction parameters of th

4. Desenvolvimento de um laser de Nd:YLF bombeado por diodo laser e duplicado em frequencia para 657 nm / Development of a diode pumped Nd:YLF laser, frency doubled to 657 nm
Atomic clocks are used today in a number of scientific and technological applications, ranging from tests of relativity, or variations of fundamental constants, to the use in navigation and telecommunication. The next generation of such high precision devices will be based on optical transitions of suitable laser cooled and trapped atoms. In this work we des

5. Ramsey Spectroscopy in an atomic fountain / Espectroscopia Ramsey em um chafariz atômico
We present some relevant aspects for the realization of a 133Cs fountain, intended to operate as a primary frequency standard to realize the definition of the second. The main goal of this work is the optimization of the experimental setup of the atomic fountain in its most critical parts: the interaction region and the detection system. Furthermore, the sev

6. Characterization of the main frequency shifts for the brazilian 133Cs atomic beam frequency standard
In order to evaluate an atomic clock, it is important to determine the main frequency shifts caused by external fields, device imperfections, etc. Scanning the frequency of the main oscillator, the Ramsey fringe is obtained and used to determine the main shifts. The gravitational shift (10-17), second order Doppler (1.65×10-13), Black-Body radiation shift (

A 133Cs Atomic Beam Clock: study of its accuracy and stability as a function of the atomic frequency shift due to the second order zeeman effect, the cavity pulling and the rabi pulling
Since 1967, the definition of the second is based on the atomic properties of the 133Cs atom. The device that realises this definition is an atomic clock. In this work, we present the progress made in the last year on Brazilian scientific time and frequency program. The aim of this dissertation work is the caracterization of our standard. We report the major

10. The 31S0-33P0 transition in the aluminum isotope ion 26A1+: a potentially superior passive laser frequency standard and spectrum analyzer.
The aluminum 26 isotope ion is proposed here as a possible candidate for a superior atomic clock. For this even isotope, the extraordinarily long lifetime of the 33P0 state offers a potential clock transition (31S0-33P0) linewidth of 300 microHz. The mF = 0 --> 0 transition has only a quadratic Zeeman shift approximately 4 x 10(-18) at 0.1 Gauss magnetic fie

11. The 61S0-63P0 transition in thallium isotope ion 204Tl+: A superior atomic clock
Experimental and theoretical studies of the forbidden J = 0 → J′ = 0 optical transition 61S0-63P0 in the odd Hg isotopes are in the literature. From this work natural width and quadratic Zeeman effect have been estimated for the same line in the isoelectronic, even thallium ion 204Tl+, which has a very small nuclear magnetic moment. For the mF = 0 → 0
