RESUMO

In this work, we will present a musical conception of the Impressões Sinfônicas Festa das Igrejas (Symphonic Impressions Churches Party), by the composer Francisco Mignone. The interpretive aspect is the main focus of this study, so we will highlight some of the many intrinsic musical components of the score, indicating interpretation possibilities based on a hermeneutic view. All the considerations about harmony, melody, rhythm, texture, articulation, and further elements are used to show up the performers thoughts about the work. We believe that a hermeneutic view of both composition and conducting is highly important to identify and relate the musical and non-musical information about the work and this craft, providing a better understanding, elaboration and execution of the musics preparatory stages, thus achieving a consistent musical conception. The first chapter comprises the theoretical foundation of this work, comprehending considerations about conducting, interpretation and the performer. In the second chapter, information about hermeneutics and a hermeneutic exercise about some activities in the area of conducting will be presented. The third chapter consists of information about the Impressões Sinfônicas Festa das Igrejas. The fourth chapter addresses the musical view of this work. At last, we will present the final considerations. With this research, we believe that using hermeneutics from the perspective of conducting can be a powerful tool for the conductor, showing him new perspectives about his craft and, most importantly, about his professional performance.
