RESUMO

The confabulation, in the clinical cognitive research, has many different interpretations. It appears in the neuropsychological literature as a semiological item of amnesia, dementia and aphasic syndromes. Althought its causes and cognitive mechanisms have not been properly elucidated, it is accepted as related to memory and consciousness alterations. Althought the confabulation is unarguably a discoursive phenomenon, it has not been taken as an object of research by neuropsychology. Through this work, we aim to evaluate its linguistic, pragmatic and interactive components, as welI as discussing the metadiscourse terms about confabulation. The objective is to discuss confabulation considering this phenomenon as interesting to the study of the relation patterns between language and cognition. In view of the data obtained in the normal and pathological contexts and considering the discoursive situations and enunciative activities among which the confabulation occurs, we try to deny theoretically and empirically, the explicative proposals of the traditional clinical approach of confabulation, all our efforts are turned to demonstrate that, in the case of superior cognitive processes, like memory and thinking, the language and the discoursive should not be Kept apart from the cognitive system configuration. About confabulation, we could state, like Foucault. Here, there is language
