RESUMO

Bahias Federal University in memory: 1946-2006 is an institutional historical research oriented in direction of historical materialism. It tries to recognize the real configuration of the Brazilian university through the historical tracing down, to analyze the learning reformist processes. The relationships university-society were emphasized, as well as, the public policies as State strategy to line up the institution. The explanative format searched to follow the movement and the establishment of relations among the collected material in documental sources, bibliographic and imaginable. This study was built beginning with narrative interviews of three Bahias Federal University Principals, Roberto Santos (1967-1971); Rogério Vargens (1988- 1991) e Felippe Serpa (1993-1998), which did a circumstanced analysis of their management. This research focused the relation among narrative-memory-historyintertextuality with the target of recognize the relations plot that configured this university. In this historical constitution line searches and institutional documents, as well as, the production of Bahias authors, were fundamental. Bahias Federal University in memory: 1946-2006, discovered the protagonist role of this university in the Brazilian process of college teaching, by its differenced trajectory, since its foundation adopting the university model of teaching-search-extension; recognized the relation part-all between the Brazilian and the college education in Bahia. It has identified the apprehension of the public policies way and how to conduct the reformist processes, along its existence, and how it generated changes and stayings that was essential for its conception of university. Bahias Federal University in memory: 1946-2006, is the institutional history of its foundation in the XXI century. The written history and the narration were made in the benjaminian perspective, the narrator that tells about its history according to its subjectivity, and its historical circumstance. The principals narratives are not appendixes; they are the heart of the job. The readers are free to access the media at the beginning as at the jobs end. The historical tracing down had the goal to analyze, therefore, identify connections that revealed the configurations and tendencies of the Brazilian university, as a whole national institution, in the XXI century.
