RESUMO

This work proposes the development of a management system of virtual sites called Atualizador. Developed at the Data Processing Company of Rio Grande do Sul (PROCERGS), the website project at the Defesa Civil of Rio Grande do Sul, first to implement and utilize the Atualizador, was in the initial landmark of a methodology that really worked in the solution of project concept devised to manage virtual shops, portals, support systems to e-learning, and virtual sites requiring constant content updating. Its main purpose is to make virtual sites dynamic and versatile. Projected in accordance with the premises of usability and cognitive ergonomics, the concept of product privileges the design and friendly graphic interface simplifying routines, foreseeing the expected meaning of users tasks and standardizing most actions. Laymen without any specific computer knowledge may easily include, alter, exclude, exhibit or not, any information and content item. To do so, one needs only a session identifier and a password. In technological terms the Atualizador may be easy adapted to different databases and its visual and structural concept may be used with various programming languages. The methodology used in the Atualizador project was specifically adapted and focused on interface design and it is divided into graphic design and computer programming, a practical result of four years experience at PROCERGS by the author. We must point out that the initial expectation concerning the Atualizador project was overcame through the vision of the stages of project methodology. Several functions and execution facilities, not foreseen at the beginning of the project, were inserted in the system such as the possibility to customize the layout and always maintain visible on the computer screen important titles and switches. The development of the Atualizador has fully reached its results. Its components and tools, and the facility to be implanted have greatly contributed to the use of the product in various virtual sites and systems. After the Atualizador had been implantation one noticed, among other possible uses, the implantation of a e-learning system. The Atualizador would guarantee the usability through a concise and easy-to-use interface. Attached to this facility and customized flexibility it would allow the generation of personalized environments, which would motivate the use of the tool. This essay has been divided into four chapters, respectively: Communication in the Aquarius Era (theories, systems, portals, designers, visual identity). Digital-virtual Environment (virtual sites, friendly interface, the hypertext). Focus Theory (sections and proportions, the design layout composition and representation, usability criteria). Designing the Atualizador (design methodology, systems analysis of electronic mail, project requirements, design and system implantation). The qualities of the Atualizador (practical contributions), and the authors views over his discoveries.
