RESUMO

This work shows the characterization of plant systems through their photosynthetic activity measured with the photoacoustic technique. A model for oxygen diffusion in leaves is analyzed and checked through in vivo and in situ measurements in plants from different species. Photosynthetic induction measurements in eucalyptus plants produced by two distinct procedures lead to the conclusion that clones (shoot cuttings) presented a higher photosynthetic performance than that shown by seedlings. The occurrence of radicular stress and its effects in the photosynthesis of eucalyptus samples were evaluated through photoacoustic measurements. This study also allowed the comparison between the efficiency of the photoacoustic and the fluorescence techniques on the diagnosis of plants subjected to stress conditions
