RESUMO
Man s training today depends largely on what he learned in school. But the school, in most cases, is not prepared for such a function, especially as regards Brazilian primary schools, whose main objective is the total education of the individual. New techniques, strategies, and methodologies of teaching have been sought, yet no definite solution has been found. On the other hand, the teaching of sciences and mathematics is considered he nursery of the scientific and technical vocations that a developing country needs so much to implement its progress. For an effective and., efficient teaching one needs also teachers who are prepared to apply methodology that aids the emergence of these vocations. Many authors are of opinion that this methodology of teaching should take the strategies of scientific methodology into consideration. In the present study, working with pre-service training of teachers of science and mathematics, we tried to advise the student-teachers to use more indirect, influence through the methods of projects and of solutions of problems. We arrived at the conclusion that the student-teachers with the best performance had used more indirect influence and that they also btained the highest schievement with their pupils in class.
