RESUMO

This research is done in a popular sewing cooperative, constituted, mainly, by women living in a shantytown and it is included in a program of municipal public policy, guided by the Economic Solidarity. This concept links the social change based in self-management and the collective property of capital, to transformations of social values, norms and behaviors, that is, a "revolution" from an ethical point of view. Would co-operativism be contributing to the possibility of conceiving work, freedom and a subjectivity not under the domain of marketing values? Trying to help with this thoughts, this research targets the comprehension of the meanings that the cooperative achieves in the livesof its members, that is, how this women think, feel and act starting from the daily cooperative activities. For this reason, a case study was performed, with observations from participants and semi-oriented individual interviews. The theoretical reference is Vygotsky s work, to whom the sense is the fundamental category for the analysis of subjectivity, because it synthesizes the way in which the experience is singularly lived. The data was analyzed in two steps: firstly in its process, through the narrative of the daily activities of the co-operative and, immediately by the analysis of the "underwritten", learning in this way the affective-willingbase of the speech. Both allowed usto find out the senses of the co-operative, which overrun the possibility of income generation. Being part of a co-operative, for this women, has the sense of recognition of a social performance, of a new quality of sociability at work and the settlingof affective links outside of the family environment
