RESUMO

This thesis aims at investigating the construction of the ethos, as the image created by the enunciator about himself in the discourse, based on the theoretical perspective of the French Discourse Analysis and supported by the studies about ethos developed by Maingueneau (2005a, 2006). University students blogs as well as college students constitute the corpora of this research. One of its objectives is to understand the construction of the ethos as an essential discourse event, taking into consideration not only the enunciators and co-enunciators participation but also the way that social stereotypes conduct this process. The results indicate it is an essential interactive process whose participants have the same level of participation and are significantly influenced by the social stereotypes restrictions. That is because the enunciator, as a non-centered subject, who is not the origin of his own saying, can not construct any image about himself at random, once he depends on both the co-participants expectations and the scenes validated by the stereotypes.
