Habilidades e competencias em engenharia : criação e validação de um instrumento

RESUMO

Nowadays, new skills and abilities (not technicians) have been demanded as much by society as by work market, from engineers to practice their profession. The objectives of Engineering Education, at the present, have abandoned to priorize the acquisition of formal knowledge only, to emphasize the needs of developing new skills and abilities, too. So, in this work, we created and validated a research tool that enabled us to collect, from Engineering students, which are theirs conceptions about skills and abilities, thought by them as the more important ones to the exercise of their profession. In this sense, we did, preliminary, a survey on international specialized literature and we built a tool, systematized in an Likert scale. Data have been quantitatively analyzed, initially by the method of discriminant analysis, to verify the existence of differences on answers in groups of individuals, and then, by the method of principal components. Therefore, we got 6 factors, searching interpretation of the possible correlations between skills and abilities shown on the measurement tool and we identified the more important ones on students points of view
