Fatores contextuais de manuais didáticos da década de 70: um estudo historiográfico

RESUMO

This Paper is situated in the research line of History and Description of Portuguese Language, based on the assumptions of Linguistic Historiography, following the principals of contextualization, immanency and adequacy. It has as subject the contextual factors behind the production of Portuguese Language teaching manuals from 1970s. The aim of this paper is to examine the historical context of that period and evidence, through the analysis of two Portuguese Language teaching manuals, the linguistic marks that reveal the political and ideological influences that served as base for the preparation of these manuals. The relevance of this study lies in the need of reviewing the educational changes to comprehend the past and understand the present, plan and deliver significant education to future generations. The hypothesis that guides this investigation verifies that teaching manuals bring implicit sociopolitical-cultural and ideological factors built along the time by humanity and, therefore, they are facilitators of the understanding of the linguistic knowledge, at a dimension that goals beyond language knowledge. In order to draw the historiographical path of the teaching of Portuguese Language in the second half of the 20th century, two authors of didactic series were selected: Atividade de comunicação em Língua Portuguesa by Hermínio Sargentin (1975) and Hora da Comunicação by Domingos Pascoal Cegalla (1978). The results obtained indicated that the Linguistic Historiography has been effective, when disclosing facts built by humanity along the time and, therefore, permitting the understanding of the contemporaneous reality. It is concluded that the sociopolitical-cultural factors are elements of interference in the preparation for Portuguese Language teaching materials in that period
