RESUMO

Analysis of the process of evolution of the list of the exports from MaranhÃo in the decade of 80 and its reflexes in the economy of the State, motivated by the structural changes that happened in MaranhÃo starting from the coming of the great projects industrial members of the Big Project CarajÃs. Leaving above of a study of the economic situation of the State in the decade with base in some economic indicators, to present analysis looks for to know the behavior of the economy from MaranhÃo to the long of that period, identifying the volume of the exports and the contributions that this section brought for the growth of the state economy. With the data statistics, of production and social aspects, it was possible to verify that in this period, it happened great expansion particularly in the several sections of the economy of the State in the tertiary section, generating with that, more employment and income. Nevertheless to the social indicators, the study exhibition that this process had, in the appraised period, not very expressive impact for the improvement of the quality of life of the population in relation to the habitation, education and health
