Discursos e práticas de uma escola católica: o colégio Santa Cruz na cidade de São Paulo

RESUMO

The catholic education in Brazil is the subject of study of this dissertation. As an inherent part of this subject, we study the way with which it emerges in the discourses and practices of a catholic school, (Colégio Santa Cruz), which belongs to the congregation by the same name (Congregation of the Holy Cross) in São Paulo, Brazil. The Catholic Church is the broader institution in whose context the school is inserted; therefore, its propositions are also in the foundation of this study. To improve the investigation regarding these discourses and practices within the Catholic Church itself, we committed ourselves to verify how present they are in the Brazilian context, and their implications within the cited catholic school. With this main goal this institution is presented, with its own processes of creation of educational and social utopias, and the reproduction, on the other hand, of current social values. As a result, and following the current practices in this educational institution, the images of God presented by 7th grade in Elementary School (1999) students are described. This way, these practices and their results are demonstrated, as well as other issues raised during the study
