RESUMO

Facing the movements of internationalization of companies, motivated by the threats and opportunities that a business-oriented global arena makes possible, it is feasible to verify the increase of interest on the impacts of cultural dimensions in the organizations. In this direction, studies on the organizational culture have been object of fidget in the enterprise environment, especially in companies that are going through processes of merger, of joint- ventures and of installation of units abroad. A greater domain and knowledge on the cultural dimensions that are inherent to the organizations can favor the mitigation of internal conflicts and allow the best exploration of the human capital, the main asset of an enterprise, in the age of the knowledge. Due to this fact, this research had as its objective to perform an analysis of the Hofstedes cultural dimensions, hierarchic distance, individualism versus collectivism, masculinity versus femininity and the control of the uncertainty, in an internationalized Brazilian company. To reach the objective of this theoretical-empirical study, a descriptive research through the quantitative method was executed, with the use of statistical procedures in the interpretation of the data. The results demonstrate that the similarities found in the Paraguayan and in the Brazilian units characterize homogeneous cultural dimensions and suggest a similar organizational culture. Moreover, it was concluded that the cultural characteristics of the Brazilian unit maintain the adherence with the characteristics of the Brazilian culture presented in the dimensions proposed by Hofstede in his research performed at IBM, in 1973
