RESUMO

The present work constitutes a study of Diário íntimo by Lima Barreto. It was first published in 1953 by the organizer of Lima Barretos complete work; this book is a reunion of notes, sketches of novels and ideas that built the life of the author. In D. I. it is possible to observe the contraditory relationship that surrounds the Brazil of the beginning of the twentieth century. Understanding the literary art as the one capable of aesthetically internalizing the social process, and, taking into consideration the writers peculiar factor of oscillating between private and collective aspects, there is the intention to register the relations existing between the man Afonso Henriques de Lima Barreto and his work. Once the verifications about the author and his works are full of biographic dada, the intention of this monograph is to analyze how these data mix and combine with the art of words. For whom has searched, throughout literature, to fulfill a mission directed to the revealing of social problems, Diário íntimo is a book that deserves an analyses that prioritizes a look over the tensions between the man and the writer that lies in Lima Barreto.
