RESUMO

This work deals the determination of the thermal conductivity and the mechanical strength in light mortar with soft aggregate, evidencing the features term-insulators of the composite and analysis of the main aspects of the cement composite, concerning to its mechanical characteristics. The procedure adopted for determination of thermal conductivity, has the purpose of evaluate the degree of reliability of the considered method of measurement, having as ~ase the results of the test carried through with samples, whose features previously are known. The mixtures were made with Portland cement (CPII-E 32 and CPV-ARl 32), vegeta! aggregate and proportional water to each mixture (1:0.4:0.84 , 1:0.4:1.36 , 1:0.6:1.28 e 1:0.6:1.50>. Resu/ts oflight mortar have shown higher values in tension strength and mass water absorption and smaller penetration water than conventional mortars. A simple method was usea for determination of thermal conductivity, being of easy application and with low operationa! cost, contributing for its standardization as an specific method to be employed in materiais civil construction
