RESUMO

A volumetric method for determination of lead (II) based in the reaction between silver (I) and lead (II) ions in alkaline media was developed. The lead (II) solution is treated with 0,5 M sodium hydroxide solution or alternative up to the complete dissolution of lead (II) hydroxide and the resulting solution was titrated with silver nitrate. The titration is based in the reaction between silver (I) and plumbite ions with formation of a yellow precipitate of Ag2PbO2. A positive systematic error of 1,0% for the lead concentration has been found but the addition of cloride ions in the titrate can gretly reduced this problem. The study of the effect of some foreing ions shown that NH4, Fe (III) and Sn (III) ions interfere while SO4, CO3, Cl¨, Cu (II) and Zn (II) ions do not affect the results of titration. The method was compared with the accepted volumetric method, based on the titration with edta. The results of aplication of the method to the determination of lead (II) in solder alloy were compared with those obtained from the gravimetric method, the lead (II) being precipitated as sulphate.
