RESUMO

This dissertation describes and analyzes the aspects of the Mbyá grammar, a dialect of the Guarani language spoken in the Indian areas of Morro dos Cavalos and Maciambu located in Paulo lopes, 30 miles from Florianópolis, SC. Aspects of the morphosyntax and the phonology of the laguage will be analyzed involving i) the word classes and the criteria that determine them, taking into account the well-known lack of syntactic and morphological mechanisms so common in the Tupi-Guarani language family, but that are necessary to determine the adjective category in a c1ear-cut fashion; ii) the inflectional paradigm that refers to the system of inactive person agreement markers and the inactive third person marker, the latter being treated in the literature sometimes as a pronoun (Jesen, 1990), sometimes as a relational (Seki, 1990) (chapter 2); iii) the independent and subordinate, iv) the interrogative system, v) the word order (chapter 3) and vi) some aspects of the prosodic phonology related to the accentual system of Mbyá (chapter 4)
