RESUMO

This work focus on some aspects of a wider arena of arguments dealing with environmental issues and social life in protected areas. More specifically, I propose to study the way in which social relationships were reshaped after the creation of the Ecological Station of Juréia-Itatins at the Ribeira Valley, in the atlantic coast of the State of São Paulo. To deal with the dynamics of the sociallife at this Ecological Stations in a palpable way, I have employed the description of a few concrete situations, witnessed by me during fieldwork or reconstructed by means of written sources.
