RESUMO

Compounds with the general formula Ni(DBA)2.nL, where n = 1 or 2 and L = py, pip, b pic, g pic, imd and pyz, were isolated. In the free ligand, the nNH band was observed at 3235 cm with a medium intensity which, under complexation disappeared. It was also observed in the free ligand that the nCO band at 1701 cm, assigned as due to the symmetric stretching and at 1671 cm as due the asymmetric one, both were displaced to lower frequencies in the complexes (ca. 1540 cm). The nNiO band was assigned at ca. 450 cm and at ca. 260 cm, and the nNiN band at ca. 225 cm. The vibrational spectra in solution when compared with those in the solid state, showed almost the same band positions not presenting any significant shift. Eletronic spectra of the complexes showed the n1 band in the region between 9615 and 10256 cm due to the transition A2g T2g (F); the n2 band in the region between 15873 and 16949 cm due to the transition A2g T1g (F) and n3 in the region between 25748 and 29609 cm due to the transition A2g T1g (P). Thermogravimetric analysis showed that all the compounds have a decomposition temperature above their corresponding melting point. The complexes are thermically stable and the loss of mass with temperature increase, is observed in several steps, leaving at the end of the decomposition a residue of NiO in every case.
