RESUMO

The present qualitative study, carried through with nursing assistants and technicians, had as main aim to identify the general, personal and normative beliefs of the interviewed about the implementation of the quality systems ISO 9001:2000, in the "Hospital do Cancer", in São Paulo, using as theoretical reference the Theory of Reasoned Action - TRA, of Ajzen and Fishbein (1980). The analysis of 21 interviews half-structuralized, applied to study participants, made possible to evidence positive and negative beliefs that had been grouped in three Central Thematic Units, established a priori, within the keys of TRA: Attitudes, Normative Beliefs and General Beliefs. The analysis of the speech content allowed to evidence, within these three big Thematic Units, that subcategories in the Attitude beliefs were emphasized such as: Advantages, Disadvantages and Affective Beliefs toward the ISO implementation. In the Normative beliefs were evidenced positive aspects that stimulated the adhesion to the ISO System and negative aspects that discouraged this adhesion. In both cases the aspects were factors and social referents. Within the General Beliefs positive aspects related to cognition, i.e., extension of the knowledge and use of standardization, were emphasized; regarding negative aspects, there was a perception of a bigger charge after the implementation of the ISO. These results will allow to subsidize an extension of this study applying the second step of the TRA, in a future project, through the building and application of a psychometrical scale, in order to identify the relative weight of behavioral determinants to make possible to evaluate the adhesion of the Nursing team to the standardization required for the implementation of the ISO, and to promote possible interventions and adjusts to the existent processes in the studied Hospital.
