RESUMO

In this work was analysed a 10 years of yield of an orange orchard of Baianinha and Hamlin grafted over Caipira and Cravo at the Experimental Station of IAC, in Pindorama, SP, Brasil. The effect of rainfalldistributionon the water consumption, based on soil sampling for irrigation control, was found to be very pronounced. The best yield was obtained with Hamlin/Cravo and the worst with BaianinhalCaipira. Irrigationwas applied only in the first five year of production during the winter. Even though the dry season usuallywas 6 month long and very dry, itwas appliedonlyan average of 2.3 irrigationsper year. The effectof irrigation was not significant, in a whole, except in isolated years. There was no effect thereafter the interruptionof irrigationin the followingyears. A detailed analysis of water effect was carried out, initiallyby simple correlation between final yield and its components and the difference between rainfalland potentialevapotranspiration(P-ET)occurred each monthduringthe year before and the current year of production. The significants periods were again correlated, in order to obtain a multilinearregression to explain and quantify the water effecton finalyieldand its components
