RESUMO

Objective: To describe the behavior of the corporal motor coordination and the pressure center (COP) as for the static balance in children and to compare the medium values found between normal children and with hearing deficiency. The authors RINE et al., (2004), e GAWRON, et al., (2004) mentioned that the children with sensorineural hearing impairment (SNHI) presented a progressive delay in the motor development and damages in the control postural, which has not been appropriately registered. The investigation of this alteration in the sensorial organization of the postural control can be measured by the posturography. Methods: This is a transversal analytic study. The sample was formed by 40 children distributed equally in two groups denominated study group (GE), being 8 of the masculine gender and 12 of the feminine gender with average of 8,88 1,22 year-old age, and group control (GC), being 10 of the masculine gender and 10 of the feminine gender with average of 9,34 1,00 year-old age. The motor coordination was assessed with the KTK tests battery (Körperkoordination Test für Kinder). The postural steadiness was used in four modalities of protocols where we also evaluated the support base factor and the vision. For the datas treatment was used the ANOVA (variance analysis) statistics inference and the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: In relation to motor coordination it was verified that the children with SNHI presented inferior medium values of motor acting to the found for normal children of the same age group and genders. There was statistically significant elevation of stabilogram parameter in almost all the tests in children with SNHI as compared to the control group. This display that the same ones presented smaller static balance, when compared to the normal of same age and genders. Conclusions: These results support the idea that children with SNHI presented deficit of sensorial organization and delay in the motor development that justify the accomplishment of the interventions and futures studies in this population. Like this, the identification of the deficit in the sensorial organization in the pre-intervention, can improve the values found in the interventions related to the somatosensorial system and the vision, suggesting that this improvement can contribute to an increase in the level of the motor development. The results of this study will be useful to researchers and clinicians using COP-based measures to evaluate postural steadiness in children.
