RESUMO

This dissertation aims at creating general references on Altino Rosauro Salazar Pimentas piano work, cataloguing his piano work, showing his artistical importance, with comments on his style and descriptions of the pieces. This dissertation is structured in three chapters. The first is a biography that shows the composer as an important artistic celebrity. The second chapter considers, in its beginning, the composers understanding about his own artistic and aesthetic conception. Afterwards, it presents stylistic considerations raised through structural analysis stressing common stylistic characteristics in the process of building forms, phrases, motifs and other musical aspects. In the last one, short descriptions of each piece are made as a guide to Altinos pianist repertoire. The descriptions are small technical-interpretative analyses that bring indications of difficult levels and suggestions of exercises that supply technical requirements employed in the pieces and are to be used as a device by teachers and students who wish to perform Altinos piano music.
