RESUMO

The behavior of Integrated Optical Amplifiers built over doped Erbium waveguides is thoroughly analyzed through a frequency domain scalar model. This is based on the finite element method, 2D, for the field modal solution and the Runge-Kutta method for the solution of the propagation differential equations. Silica glass and Tellurite with different Er-doping were used as substracts in the numerical simulations. The developed software permits the simulation of amplifying devices in various pump configurations, including bidirectionally pumped in 980 nm and 1480 nm, and the detailed spectral analysis of gain and ASE - Amplified Spontaneous Emission.
