RESUMO

Information technology can help enterprises to deal with a great nowadays problem: needs of getting information in a short available time caused by continuous environment changes. The increase of available information and the possibility to collect it by electronic ways increases some tasks complexity. At the same time, the complexity of searching for that information and using it for environment analysis increases too. One possible way to reduce that complexity is providing software with knowledge to do those tasks using artificial intelligence. This research discusses the applications of intelligent agents, computers programs designed to make specific activities. A review about the applications of that technology is presented, also the process of environment analysis and what would an executive consider in adopting intelligent agents in that process. Getting contributions from an executive, an academic specialist and softwareâs developers, this research studies the case of a company that hosts Internet sites. Among the results is emphasized that intelligent agents are not widely used more by commercials reasons than by techniques reasons
