RESUMO

The present study focuses on the didactical and theoretical assumptions of initial higher education of teachers, carried out by Curso Normal Superior with Interactive Media (Higher Education Courses with Interactive Media), a partnership between Brazil Electronic University and Ponta Grossa State University, authorized by MEC as an open university course. The study has been developed based on the following matter:? What is the idea of teacher education defined by Higher Education Courses With Interactive Media?? This investigation was carried out between 2001 and 2004 in Londrina (PR). This is qualitative-descriptive, grounded on the principles of dialectical materialism analyzing the following categories: pedagogical work, professional identity and knowledge conduct. The procedures of the investigation are literature review and documents related to the theme, in loco observation and the comparison of such information with the statements of the people involved, especially students and tutors, ? teachers of municipal schools in Londrina. The basic controlling reference of the study is the set of principles of national basis to professional teacher education published by the National Association of Professional Teacher Education. The conclusions demonstrate that the didactical and theoretical assumptions of CNSMI can be found separately from what is suggested by educators once they officialize the informative/formative opportunity of teachers qualification by: competence training and the fact that the idea of open university becomes evident for its usefulness of didactic strategy, capital control over work and the widening of teaching market through production and virtual sales of pedagogical material .
