A educação a distância e o ensino de língua inglesa: uma análise comparada da metodologia do telecurso 2000.

RESUMO

This dissertation of Master degree analyzes the application of the methodology of the Telecurso 2000 of English language (TC2000-English) in the classroom of the project Tempo de Aprender implanted in a state public school situated in Santo Amaro da Purificação, an inner city of Bahia. In the research, it is arisen the hypothesis that TC-2000-English has an exclusive nature, therefore adopts a structural approach of education which is out of the reality lived by young and adult that need adequate education to its social peculiarities. The investigative work aimed at comparing the data searched through the accompaniment of the lessons in a traditional classroom and a group of distance education of the project Tempo de Aprender, so that it can be verified the level of satisfaction of the pupils in relation to the construction of their autonomy and the teaching methodology. Freires pedagogy offers theoretical basis to analyze the application of the methodology in the classroom by advocating that learning should be mediated by the teacher through reflexive and contextualized situation in order to create conditions for the students to learn the scientific knowledge starting from the practical information they have. The classroom of Tempo de Aprender project confirms this by the fact that the teacher of the searched class applied the methodology of TC-2000-English without making the necessary interventions for the contextualization of education, the development of autonomous attitudes and, finally, the use of the English language reflexive and interactionally. Once it is verified the deficiencies contained in the method; in its narrow and exclusive character; and also the difficulties of its applicability in the educational context of an inner city in Bahia, it is suggested the use of the related method only to support the process teach-learning of the English language, in the module of the project of education for young and adult Tempo de Aprender, but not in the distance education groups.
