RESUMO

This dissertation is the result of the interest in knowing how was established the relationship between society and Nature under a perspective that the nature and the environmental problems are built socially. It aims to identify the main visions about the Iberê Consortium society, particularly categorized for the states sectors, the market and civil society and to research in the occidental humanity history, the elements that subsidize the social construction of the relationship of society with the Nature in the referred region. The methodology used was leaned on the bibliographic analysis, documental research and field research with relevant actors in the cover regions of study. First of all, we try to show the conceptual elements of analysis of nature visions, anchored in the cultural values and the creation of environment problems in the region is shown under the theoretical constructivist perspective. Then, the construction of ideas about Nature in history, whose principal vehicles were the culture, the Science and the Religion, determinates the main landmarks of Occidental Society: the of Nature as a living organism, the rupture and considering it like a machine and, more recently, searching the ways to the reintegration in a holistic form. In the settlement and occupation process of Catarinense West, the meeting of different ethnic and social groups thats form a current vision about nature perception. Behind, the bases of interviews and qualitative analysis from that identified among the different actors, the perceived environmental problems and the actuation of public policies and environmental education to contribute and to articulate the economic development, heading for the supportable development. Finally, the conclusion to qualify the processes of regional development
