1. Preparation and performance of magnetic zirconium-iron oxide nanoparticles loaded on palygorskite in the adsorption of phosphate from water
Magnetic zirconium-iron oxide nanoparticles loaded on palygorskite as a low-cost adsorbent was produced by one-step co precipitation technique and its properties for phosphate adsorption were overall investigated. The Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) specific surface area analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier tr

2. Extraction and Characterization of Pequi Seed Oil for Biodiesel Production: A Green Management of Waste to Biofuel Using Ethanol and Heterogeneous Catalysis
This work reports the characterization of a vegetable oil extracted from pequi seeds, an agroindustrial residue, and its biodiesel production using ethanol and heterogeneous catalysis. The pequi seeds showed 40.73 wt.% of extractive content, which represents a large amount of the biomass composition. The crude oil extracted from the pequi seeds with ethanol

3. Adsorption of Calcium(II), Cadmium(II) and Copper(II) Ions from Water by Prepared Silicon-Aluminum-Zirconium Oxide Using Sol-Gel Process
Ternary oxide silica-alumina-zirconia (SiO2/Al2O3/ZrO2) obtained by the sol-gel process was applied as novel adsorbent of ions in aqueous solution. Batch isotherms were performed using standard CuII, CdII and CaII solutions at variable pH and different concentrations. Adsorption capacity was best at weakly acidic pH. The maximum adsorption capacities were 2.

4. Rolling and recrystallization behavior of pure zirconium and zircaloy-4
ABSTRACT Rolling and recrystallization of pure zirconium and zircaloy-4 have been studied comparatively in this paper. For the as-received condition, zirconium presented a recrystallized microstructure and the alloy a typical basketweave microstructure. Comparative rolling tests were performed, and reduction limit curves as a function of the rolling temperat

5. Electrochemical Behavior During the Zirconium Conversion Coating Formation on AISI 1006 Steel
This study investigated a conversion coating based on hexafluorozirconic acid solution on cold-rolled (AISI 1006) steel sheets, in situ, at different pH values and immersion times. Electrochemical characterization was carried out by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) with hexafluorozirconic acid bath as the electrolyte. Laser scanning confocal micr

6. Influence of Zirconium Percentage on Microhardness and Corrosion Resistance of Ti50 Ni50-xZrx Shape Memory Alloys
To obtain high temperature shape memory alloys of the lower cost Ni-Ti-X system, elements such as Hf and Zr are introduced to modify the thermal and mechanical properties of these alloys. This work studied the production and characterization of Ti50 Ni50-x Zrx alloys (x = 0, 5, 10 at.%) with the aim of improving their thermal, mechanical and corrosion resist

7. CHARACTERIZATION OF SILICON-ALUMINUM-ZIRCONIUM OXIDE OBTAINED BY THE SOL-GEL PROCESS
A new silicon-aluminum-zirconium ternary oxide (SiO2/Al2O3/ZrO2) was prepared by the sol-gel method followed by one-step washing with absolute ethanol or two-step washing with absolute ethanol followed by ultra-pure water. Both ternary oxides presented high surface area (over 340 m2 g-1). The binding energy values for Zr3d and Al2p levels showed the insertio

8. Biomimetic Coating of Mechanochemically Synthesized Zirconium Titanate
A biomimetic method was used to promote bioactivity of ZrTiO4. Zirconium titanate was obtained by using a combination of techniques such as mechanical milling and heat treatment of zirconia and titania powders. The effect of milling time on the evolution of the ZrTiO4 phase formation was studied. Powders were uniaxially pressed followed by heat treatment for

9. Thermomechanical Characteristics of a Functionally Graded Mounted Uniform Disc with/without Rigid Casing
ABSTRACT In the present paper, thermomechanical attributes of a power-law graded uniform mounted disc with or without rigid casing are investigated analytically under centrifugal and steady-state thermal loads within the framework of axisymmetric infinitesimal plane-stress elasticity theory. Young's modulus, material density, thermal expansion coefficient an

10. A randomized clinical trial of cavity liners after selective caries removal: one-year follow-up
Abstract Alternatives for the treatment of caries disease, such as minimally invasive approaches, have been developed in recent years. Objective: To carry out clinical and radiographic evaluations of three cavity liners after selective caries removal. Methodology: Thirty-six primary molars with deep occlusal caries lesions without pulp involvement (from ch

11. Effect of ZrB2 Particle Size on Pressureless Sintering of ZrB2 - ß-Sic Composites
ABSTRACT: Zirconium diboride is an ultra high temperature ceramic material that leads this emerging class of materials because of its distinct combination of properties, including high melting temperature (> 3000 °C) and the lowest theoretical density (6.09 g·cm-3) among the borides. This combination of properties makes ZrB2 candidate for airframe leading
