13. Simulação e inteligencia arficial aplicadas ao estudo da dinamica populacional do bicudo do algodoeiro na região de Campinas/SP
The object of the present thesis was to create a simulator in order to analyse the population dynamics of the cotton boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis, interacting simulation systems and artificial intelligence techniques. A computer program capable of elucidating and make good interpretation to monitoring data collected in cotton fields subjected to Insect Pe

14. Um modelo de interface de aplicação para sistemas de comunicação
This work analyzes the concept of API ("Application Program Interface") for communication systems. From this discussion, APIs for several Application Protocols are built, and a conceptual General Model is proposed. This work also presents the API implementation for the MMS ("Manufacturing Message Specification") Protocol in the SISDI-MAP, a Didactic System f

16. Improved programs for DNA and protein sequence analysis on the IBM personal computer and other standard computer systems.
We have previously described programs for a variety of types of sequence analysis (1-4). These programs have now been integrated into a single package. They are written in the standard C programming language and run on virtually any computer system with a C compiler, such as the IBM/PC and other computers running under the MS/DOS and UNIX operating systems.

17. Computer security: a necessary element of integrated information systems.
The Matheson Report sees the medical library as playing a key role in a network of interlocking information bases that will extend from central repositories of medical information to each physician's personal records. It appears, however, that the role of security in this vision has not been fully delineated. This paper discusses problems in maintaining the

18. Computer program for the IBM personal computer which searches for approximate matches to short oligonucleotide sequences in long target DNA sequences.
We describe a program which may be used to find approximate matches to a short predefined DNA sequence in a larger target DNA sequence. The program predicts the usefulness of specific DNA probes and sequencing primers and finds nearly identical sequences that might represent the same regulatory signal. The program is written in the C programming language and

19. Read Code Quality Assurance: From Simple Syntax to Semantic Stability
As controlled clinical vocabularies assume an increasing role in modern clinical information systems, so the issue of their quality demands greater attention. In order to meet the resulting stringent criteria for completeness and correctness, a quality assurance system comprising a database of more than 500 rules is being developed and applied to the Re

20. Scriptable Access to the Caenorhabditis elegans Genome Sequence and Other ACEDB Databases
Much of the world’s genomic data are available to the community through networked databases that are accessed via Web interfaces. Although this paradigm provides browse-level access and has greatly facilitated linking between databases, it does not provide any convenient mechanism for programmatically fetching and integrating data from diverse databases. 21. The portable UNIX programming system (PUPS) and CANTOR: a computational environment for dynamical representation and analysis of complex neurobiological data.
Many problems in analytical biology, such as the classification of organisms, the modelling of macromolecules, or the structural analysis of metabolic or neural networks, involve complex relational data. Here, we describe a software environment, the portable UNIX programming system (PUPS), which has been developed to allow efficient computational representat
