1. Modelagem computacional do efeito bystander das radiações ionizantes via autômato celular e técnica Monte Carlo
Until the 1990s it was believed that the DNA was the only target molecule of ionizing radiation. But some observations have questioned this theory. In 1992, the bystander effect was described by Nagasawa and Little. This effect is responsible for a series of answers as death, chromosomal instability or other abnormalities that occur in non-irradiated cells,

2. Método Criptográco Baseado em Autômatos Celulares Bidimensionais para Cifragem de Imagens
This work proposes a new symmetric-key cryptographical model based on von Neumann two-dimensional, heterogeneous and non-additive cellular automata. The encryption process is performed by calculating consecutive pre-images and decryption process by the forward evolution of cellular automata. The proposed model was based on earlier work which used one-dimensi

3. Em busca de um algoritmo construtivo para autômatos celulares reversíveis: a abordagem das regras primitivas e derivadas
Cellular automata have been studied as computer models in many different areas. They have many properties, one of them being reversibility. Reversible cellular automata can be used, among other applications, for data compressing and encryption. Apparently, the reversible rules featured in the literature seem to have been derived through exhaustive searches i

4. Algorithmic Self-Assembly of DNA Sierpinski Triangles
Algorithms and information, fundamental to technological and biological organization, are also an essential aspect of many elementary physical phenomena, such as molecular self-assembly. Here we report the molecular realization, using two-dimensional self-assembly of DNA tiles, of a cellular automaton whose update rule computes the binary function XOR and th

5. A three-dimensional model of myxobacterial aggregation by contact-mediated interactions
Myxobacteria provide one of the simplest models of cell–cell interaction and organized cell movement leading to cellular differentiation. When starved, tens of thousands of cells change their movement pattern from outward spreading to inward concentration; they form aggregates that become fruiting bodies. Cells inside fruiting bodies differentiate into rou

6. A cellular automaton model for the proliferation of migrating contact-inhibited cells.
A cellular automaton is used to develop a model describing the proliferation dynamics of populations of migrating, contact-inhibited cells. Simulations are carried out on two-dimensional networks of computational sites that are finite-state automata. The discrete model incorporates all the essential features of the cell locomotion and division processes, inc
