1. Channel Characteristics for Fixed and Portable DTV Reception in a Single Frequency Network
Abstract This paper presents the propagation channel characteristics of a digital TV single-frequency network (SFN) obtained by carrying out field measurements using two synchronized transmitters. The measurements are performed at 31 reception points using both a directive reception antenna, which is typical of fixed reception scenarios, and an omnidirection

2. Dynamics of the botanical knowledge of the Laklãnõ-Xokleng indigenous people in Southern Brazil
ABSTRACT We analyzed the botanical knowledge of the Laklãnõ-Xokleng people in the Ibirama Laklãnõ Indigenous Territory. They are the last remnant of this ethnicity living in a unitary socio-political organization. The objective was to investigate the dynamics, distribution and transmission of botanical information. We interviewed 112 people in two villag

4. A malacological survey in the Manso Power Plant, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil: new records of freshwater snails, including transmitters of schistosomiasis and exotic species
Introduction Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease of public health concern in Brazil, and the construction of hydroelectric dams, in addition to increasing permanent human settlement and tourism, has created conditions suitable for the establishment of mollusks that can transmit schistosomiasis. Such areas require a number of actions to prevent the establ

5. SFN channel measurements in Brazil
In this paper, field measurements carried out in a suburban SFN network with two synchronized transmitters are reported. It is found that the radio signal coverage of the distributed transmission scheme is distinctly improved when compared to a single transmitter system. The path loss gain and improvement associated to the SFN scheme are obtained as well as

6. VHDL SIMPLE SYSTEM FOR DEVELOPING A SETUP OFMULTIPLE ANTENNAS / SISTEMA SIMPLES EM VHDL PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DE UM SETUP DE MÚLTIPLAS ANTENAS
MIMO systems (Multiple In - Multiple Out) are the rise of new tele- communication systems. They have the characteristic of generating greater channel capacity with low power transmitters, creating a more efficient use of energy. As the purpose is to provide higher data rate, conventional methods are too limited to improve this, and MIMO systems generate an i

7. Um estudo sobre a robustez de técnicas de processamento de sinais em sistemas MIMO / A study regarding robustness of signal processing techniques in MIMO systems
Multiple antenna wireless communication systems achieve high data transmission rates and good robustness to channel fading when signals traveling through the system are jointly processed in their transmitters and/ or receivers. In general, signal detection techniques assume perfect knowledge of the channel state information, in both transmitter and receiver,

8. Dinâmica espaço-temporal da raiva animal e bioecologia de quirópteros na microrregião de Porangatu, Goiás, Brasil
Rabies is viral lethal encephalitis that causes annual spoil of hundreds million dollars to the livestock and the public health. Starting from the 90s bats became the main transmitters of this zoonose in Brazil. In spite of the unquestionable participation of these encourage in the transmission of the illness, studies that it relate them to the distribution

9. Uma anÃlise da QoS na transmissÃo em redes 802.11G sob presenÃa de interferÃncia Bluetooth
This MSc thesis deals with the interference between the IEEE 802.11g and Bluetooth wireless network systems. More specifically, it was analyzed the impact that Bluetooth transmissions causes on IEEE 802.11g data transmissions. Five parameters were analyzed: transmission time, average packet transmission rate, average data transmission rate, number of lost pa

10. Bats and their role in human rabies epidemiology in the Americas
Bats are very interesting animals: they are the unique flying mammals, have developed a highly sophisticated echolocation system, and have become specialized to eat different types of diets. Hematophagous (vampire) bats are those specialized to feed solely on blood and have served as a source of inspiration for researchers as well as for writers. Vampire bat

11. Design, development and implementation of a solid-state pulse modulator for high-power pulse transmitters / Projeto, desenvolvimento e construção de um modulador de pulso estado-solido para transmissores pulsados de alta potencia
This work describes the development of a modular line-type solid-state pulse modulator topology to be applied in magnetron pulsed power radar transmitters, commonly found on tracking, weather and air traffic management radars. This research includes the design, development and assembling of a pulsed modulator for the Barreira do Inferno Launching Center (CLB
