1. Reinforcing the valuable role of gastric ultrasound for volume and content assessment: an observational study
Abstract Background Pulmonary aspiration is one of the most important complications in anesthesiology. Assessment of gastric content by ultrasound is a good method to quantify gastric volume and to determine the risk of intraoperative pulmonary aspiration. The aim of this study is to determine the accuracy of the gastric ultrasonography in the qualitative a

2. Trace analysis of environmental endocrine disrupting contaminant bisphenol A in canned, glass and polyethylene terephthalate plastic carbonated beverages of diverse flavors and origin
Abstract Bisphenol A (BPA) is a hazardous contaminant demonstrating endocrine disrupting properties, and assumed to be involved in the pathogenesis of various cancer diseases for instance prostate, lung and breast cancer. The objective of the present study was to estimate the BPA amounts in carbonated beverages from the Saudi Arabian market for the first tim

3. Determination of Copper and Cadmium in Petroleum Produced Formation Water by Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry after Cloud Point Extraction
Cloud point extraction (CPE) in association with graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS) was proposed for preconcentration and quantification of trace amounts of copper and cadmium in samples of saline produced formation water from petroleum exploration. The procedure was based on the formation of hydrophobic complexes of the analytes with 1

4. MAGNETOMETRIA IN-SITU PARA CARACTERIZAÇÃO DE MATERIAIS ELETRODEPOSITADOS
We have recently made studies of electrodeposits of Co onto graphene attached to different substrates, successfully performed via in-situ magnetization measurements. The magnetic analysis of deposits as a function of time lapse, indicate that Co grows with different magnetic characteristics from the beginning to the end of each run, independent of the substr

5. Isovitexin as marker and bioactive compound in the antinociceptive activity of the Brazilian crude drug extracts of Echinodorus scaber and E. grandiflorus
Abstract Echinodorus scaber Rataj and Echinodorus grandiflorus (Cham. & Schltdl.) Micheli, Alismataceae, are popularly used to relieve inflammatory complaints and as diuretic. A study on the antinociceptive effect and selected marker compounds in eleven extracts from different locations was undertaken and their antinociceptive effect was assessed. The finger

6. AVALIAÇÃO DA LIBERAÇÃO DE ELEMENTOS TRAÇO EM SOLOS TRATADOS COM XISTO RETORTADO
Soils that had received successive applications of retorted oil shale (ROS) in an experiment under field conditions were used in this study, aiming to evaluate the availability of trace elements. In the batch tests, we observed that toxic elements present in the ROS are not desorbed from the matrix in significant amounts to contaminate soil and groundwater.

7. A Green Extraction of Trace Iodine in Table Salts, Vegetables, and Food Products Prior to Analysis by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry
In this study, we report a new method for iodine extraction from table salts, vegetables, and other food products using ultrasound-assisted extraction, prior to the iodine determination by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. For the ultrasound-assisted extraction, deionized water as the extraction solvent and an extraction time of 5 min

8. Application of biosynthesized ZnO nanoparticles on an electrochemical H 2 O 2 biosensor
ABSTRACT ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized via a green biochemical method using Corymbia citriodora leaf extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent. The biosynthesized ZnO NPs were characterized by SEM and XRD. An electrochemical H2O2 biosensor was fabricated by modification of a glassy carbon electrode using our proposed ZnO NPs. The electrochemical

9. THE PHENOLIC COMPOSITION OF THE HEPATOPROTECTIVE AND ANTIOXIDANT FRACTIONS OF Albizia lebbeck L.
An investigation of the hepatoprotective and antioxidant activities of the chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions of the leaves of Albizia lebbeck L. was performed. The first two fractions expressed the best results regarding the suppression of the increased levels of plasma amino-transferases and alkaline phosphatase in liver-damaged mice (after

10. Isolation, Identification and Molecular Characterization of Highly Pathogenic Newcastle Disease Virus From Field Outbreaks
ABSTRACT Newcastle disease (ND) is a major infectious disease of the poultry caused by a virulent strain of Avian Paramyxovirus - 1, that is a single strand non-segmented negative sense RNA virus. ND virus is major threat to the poultry industry in many countries of the world. The study was aimed to isolate and identify Newcastle disease virus (NDV) by using
